Solid Framing Lumber

We partner with Sustainable Northwest Wood to integrate our FSC recycled framing lumber into their lumber-package orders for larger projects. They also carry a selection of our reclaimed material in their warehouse in inner SE Portland.

  • our QC standards - remove any protruding fasteners; some metal may be present; tolerance for paint, concrete, etc.

  • Thanks to recent building code changes in both Oregon and Washington, any reclaimed lumber that has not been re-graded is assigned a default grade and species. To keep prices low, we don’t re-grade our framing lumber.

Got Wood?

Most construction wood waste gets “recycled” into mulch or boiler-fuel, whether it’s a broken pallet, a 3” off-cut, or lumber that’s actually reusable. That’s just business-as-usual.

There are a couple options to divert more of your usable wood waste into actual closed-loop recycling.

1. Self-haul: bring your clean, reusable wood waste to us (regular hours or by appointment.) Currently only available to established commercial accounts.

2. Third party hauler: we currently work closely with Clean It Up Mark to receive loads that are predominantly reusable material. Their drivers are familiar with our acceptance guidelines, but some simple steps taken on the jobsite ahead of time will ensure they can bring more of your wood waste to Sankofa for reuse.   • if there is space, separate reusable material from non-reusable (aka “recyclable”) material - this makes it easier to haul reusable material to Sankofa in one load, and haul material that’s more suitable for grinding to a different facility

  • when you call to have a load of reusable material picked up, communicate clearly with the dispatcher (and with your field staff) that you want them to haul the load to Sankofa
