Sankofa Lumber processes reclaimed wood debris for use in commercial-scale manufacturing and construction. Our wood comes from construction sites throughout the Portland area, and is modern-era lumber. This isn’t old-growth wood that won’t take a nail - save those beauties for custom furniture and flooring!
As a business-to-business supplier, we know that quality control, volume, dependability, and competitive pricing are essential to our customers’ operations. We also know that these are the biggest challenges for using reclaimed lumber at a commercial scale. That’s why we built Sankofa… to address those challenges head-on and become a leader in reuse through innovative supply chain relationships.

Solid Framing Lumber
We partner with Sustainable Northwest Wood to integrate our FSC recycled framing lumber into their lumber-package orders for larger projects. They also carry a selection of our reclaimed material in their warehouse in inner SE Portland.
Nominal-dimension 2x4 and 2x6 in 3’+, 4’+, 6’+, 8’+, 10’+, and 12’+. Pre-cut blocking for 16” OC also regularly in stock. Inquire about current inventory of larger dimensions (2x8 through 6x10).

Custom Pre-Cut Lumber
Let us increase your capacity and shorten run times by pre-cutting all the “little bits” that slow down your production, whether for a large construction project or an ongoing production line. Anywhere you need 100s or even 1000s of pre-cut pieces of 2x4 or 2x6 - blocking, truss webbing, or rough openings.

We’re committed to providing benefits to our community in Portland through green workforce development and material donations. Contact us if your non-profit organization is looking for reclaimed building materials for a community project, “green-collar” job training opportunities, or a learning tour and presentation about how a circular economy is good for people and planet.
Got Wood?
Contact us about diverting reusable wood waste from your construction projects. Each project is different, and each stage of construction produces different waste. We can help you plan ahead for maximum diversion with minimal disruption to on-site operations.
We can generally accept wood waste from the earlier stages of new construction (rough framing, OSB/plywood sheathing scrap, temporary bracing and safety rails, etc.) with a minimum load size of 10 cubic yards/standard dump trailer. Loads should contain a minimum of 50% of the following:
2x4 and 2x6 - 2’ and longer
Larger dimensions (2x8, 4x4, or larger), 4’ and longer
Scrap OSB and CDX plywood, 8 sq ft and larger
We currently accept self-haul loads by appointment only with a commercial account. You can also contact on of the third-party haulers that we have pre-approved to deliver clean wood waste to us: Clean It Up Mark, Junk King Portland, Affordable Junk Removal.
Already work with a hauler? Put them in touch with us! We also work on a limited basis with various roll-off box service providers in the area.
